Welcome again to Green News & Green Deal. There are only 258 days until the launch of Green Deal and its first customers on the 1 October 2012. Are you geared up and ready? If not, you may find this newsletter very useful.
The Green Deal journey is now gaining speed, with its landscape due to change shortly as the plethora of consultative documents become finalised early this year. The PAS 2030 for installers is due anytime, with the rest of the certification and accreditation framework to follow suit thereafter.
I have devoted some articles this week to the small players who will be pitching for Green Deal work. There needs to be more confidence in the (click for video) SME and Sole Trader Sector so that they can compete for work in the emerging energy efficiency markets. A free subscription to our on-line Green Deal Consortia will help small firms find others in order to collaborate up. A framework model will in turn be able to deliver all the installation measures in the PAS 2030 to undertake the ‘whole house approach’, and have more power to win work from the Green Deal & ECO funders.
Our Passport to Green Deal will offer a number of road maps, which cover the main elements of the Green Deal value chain. So if you want to install, assess, or fund, we have a road-map will take you through all the complexities of the certification and accreditation framework, and help to get you Green Deal ready and be the first in the market to profit accordingly. Installers, through our innovative Green Deal Manager, soon to be launched in conjunction with the final PAS 2030, will provide a full tool kit of policy, procedures, and forms to make the process efficient and quick.

A new report shows that plumbers may be very unprepared for the massive changes to the ways homes will be heated in the new low carbon economy. "Managing the UK's [heating] energy systems in a way that reduces CO2, avoids expensive imports, ensures energy security, does not exacerbate fuel poverty, supports job creation and works with – rather than against – the market will be hugely difficult," said Roger Kemp, professor of engineering at Lancaster University.
The Green Deal Consortia is a delivery framework providing opportunities for all Green Deal Business Models to share expertise, work in partnership, gain competitive advantages and to ensure a market share by linking in with other local Green Deal participants (before and after Green Deal Accreditation):
Very soon, the final PAS 2030 will be launched. This is the Publicly Available Specification which is a sponsored fast-track standard driven by the needs of the Green Deal accreditation framework and developed according to guidelines set out by the British Standards Institute. Please read on for the full list of measures:
To meet the UK’s ambitious carbon reduction targets, over half a million dwellings every year, for the next 40 years will need to be improved. Average improvement costs to achieve 60% reduction of current emissions could be around £25,000 per dwelling, so the improvement programme is worth £12.5 billion per year. For opportunities, read on:
How will the small players get a share of the Green Deal market? Big players are well-positioned to deliver the Green Deal in-house, but will this mean further marginalisation for small firms? PB Energy Solutions has looked into the Government’s Impact Assessment to see the impacts they considered…
