npower has pledged its support for the SME sector by awarding the Green Deal Consortia a funding agreement to deliver ECO funded schemes across the UK.  Sealing the agreement was Trevor Yeoman of npower, Rt Hon Gregory Barker MP and Phyllis Prior-Boardman, Green Deal Consortia.

npower has consistently supported the Consortia and has delivered on their promises to help small installers into ECO funded work.  To celebrate this, there was an official signing of a funding agreement at the Scottish Consortia launch in June, with Sir William Haughey OBE, which now gives confidence that programmes will begin, that SMEs will start to deliver, and will prosper and grow as a result.  Phyllis Prior-Boardman of Green Deal Consortia said:

“I therefore welcome the Minister and Sir William to come back and see the impact of this funding on our SMEs – to see the training opportunities, the job creation, the healthier households and the reduction in fuel poverty”.

The Green Deal Consortia is a national organisation established for the delivery of the Green Deal Initiative whose primary aim is to build a local, regional and national work force of accredited sole traders, SME’s and apprentices who can undertake work for the domestic and commercial market.

Every trade will be able to participate in the Green Deal by diversifying into areas of sustainable growth which then meet the Green Deal criteria.  So, for example, roofers can train to install loft insulation; joiners can diversify to provide draft excluding; brick layers can broaden their skill base to include external wall insulation, and opportunities are endless.

The Consortia is a means to address those areas where installers may struggle with supply chain management, credit, prompt payments, lead tracking, business support and development. The Consortia’s key aim to success is collaboration, bringing in partners at the cutting edge of energy management to undertake aerial thermal imaging and external wall cladding whilst help installers provide quality and informed customer advice and service.
