The Green Deal consultation document has been launched. It is seeking views on the details of the Green Deal and new Energy Company Obligation (ECO) to be implemented in secondary legislation and energy licensing. This is an important document, and although 284 pages long, is well worth a read….
Green Deal will allow householders and businesses to make energy efficiency improvements to their buildings at no upfront cost. The Green Deal is a finance mechanism that will allow access to loans needed for the improvements with repayment, in instalments, attached to the electricity bill.
Energy Company Obligation (ECO)
The ECO will place obligations on energy companies to generate a specific amount of credit for the installation of energy efficiency measures in homes. ECO fits in the Green Deal framework and provides support, in the domestic sector, where Green Deal finance alone is not enough.
