Green Deal Up! News, articles and opportunities!

Dear all

The Green Deal:   Set in Stone

Last week’s posing question was:  Have you heard of Green Deal yet?  And as a professional networker, I know first-hand about the lack of awareness of this important Government initiative.

Yet the energy Bill was enacted this week and it is now the Energy Act 2011.  This means that the Green Deal is set in stone!  It cannot be overturned by successive Governments, it is here to stay.

This, together with the green growth economy, will mean massive opportunities for every business to take serious advantage of.

For electricians, interior designers, manufacturers, accountants, construction and procurement - I have already looked at the opportunities and posted articles for you on:  http://www.greatgreendeal.co.uk/index.php?categorie=48

For those in social housing and construction, I was delighted to have an article published in UK-Housing.co.uk. See ‘Where there is a will, there is a way’: http://www.uk-ousing.co.uk/FA/1795/#PB101101

For those already in a good starting position to install any of the Green Deal measures, there are a number of hurdles to jump!  Here is the suggested path:

Step One:  ISO 9001 and 14001

Step Two:  PAS 2030 (draft out for review until 24 October 2011)

Step Three:  MCS Accreditation (if you wish to install renewable technology

Step Four:  Green Deal Code of Practice

Step Five:  Green Deal Accreditation

As the nights draw in, and the weather is getting colder, your energy bills will be rising to unprecedented levels during the winter months.  Take a look at how you can save on energy and save on costs:  http://www.greatgreendeal.co.uk/index.php?categorie=54

So, over to the Newsletter:  Green Deal Up No: 14.  In the meantime, if I can help with any queries you may have on Green Deal, or how your business can take advantage of the green growth economy, just give me a call at any time on 01942 829 568.

Best wishes

ISO for SMEs: boosting procurement and green growth prospects

Why should SMEs consider applying for international management standards?  A leading expert in the field, Jane Dronsfield, writes about the benefits of ISO for SMEs in an increasingly competitive market – and how it’s not as difficult or costly to gain as some might think http://www.greatgreendeal.co.uk/article/isolowcost/

Green Deal is now legislation!

The Energy Act has become law setting in stone the legal framework for the Green Deal, which will be launched in Autumn next year. (Chris Huhne, Energy Secretary) “A huge hurdle has been passed in bringing the Green Deal closer to making homes warmer and cheaper to run. The coalition is doing all it can to bear down on energy prices, but insulation will provide the long term help to manage bills.” http://www.greatgreendeal.co.uk/article/gdlaw/

Green Deal: Where There's a Will There's a Way?

If we have the determination to do something, we can always find the path or method to do it. Wise words, but is the social housing sector taking heed by responding positively to the Green Deal challenge? http://www.greatgreendeal.co.uk/article/houseround/
