This is excellent news for industry. The Government is considering a £2m campaign to promote Green Deal, the new energy efficiency scheme which launches in October 2012.
Without demand from customers, business investments in Green Deal will not be sustainable. The Government states 'obvious and important areas where communications are important' to the success of Green Deal although it is not known whether the campaign will include advertising or focus on other ways of communicating and marketing the Green Deal.
Phyllis Prior-Boardman of Green Deal Nationwide, said:
"This is the icing on the cake. Public awareness and engagement with the Green Deal is vital to its success in terms of driving demand, kick-starting local economy, creating jobs and reducing carbon emissions. The general public remain largely unaware of what the Green Deal actually is and the Government has a justifiable case for financing an awareness campaign".
