Social Housing: CESP Funding Changes?
Generally, CESP funding is on a match fund basis but there may be a significant change in this approach. With a strong possibility of 100% funding, which is very scarce, it is important for social landlords and property managers take advantage of the opportunity and get their homes to low carbon and reduce fuel poverty.
What is CESP?
The Community Energy Savings Programme (CESP) provides the funds for a whole house approach for energy efficiency measures tailored to individual property. The aim is to help reduce fuel poverty in over 4,500 areas, which are selected for their low income status. The locations selected can found in this link:
CESP has the capacity to deliver £350m in energy efficiency measures translating to fuel bill savings of £300/annum. Energy companies will be able to run CESP funding until December 2012 but for the deadline to be met, retrofit work needs to commence as soon as possible.
What are the benefits?
