In April 2012, Phyllis Boardman was invited to speak at the 7th Global Corporate Social Responsibility Convention in Dubai and joined speakers such as His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority; Chairman, Dubai Airports & Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline, including my plenary chair M George Muthoot of the Muthoot Group.
Phyllis Boardman was delighted to be one of a small party of business delegates joining the Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker on the Green Trade Mission to the US. The delegation of 5 businesses was a mix with her micro-SME to the large PLC Rolls-Royce (6-10 May). The purpose was to strengthen the UK-US trade relationship and build an economic and business case for the move to a low-carbon future.
The Green Deal is an innovative concept to improve the UK’s poor performing stock, create jobs, stimulate growth, and reduce harmful carbon emissions. Why are there so many sceptics; and so many people wanting it to fail? Industry, Government and the public need to be pulling in the same direction.
